After having worked at a couple of multi-national companies (MNCs) for nearly a decade, corporate executive Pradeep Singh quit his job and started a milk parlour here.

A few months into the business, Pradeep (35), a native of Charkhi Dadri district, suffered a setback during the Covid-induced lockdown, but he did not lose hope. Determined, he achieved a turnover of Rs 4.5 million in just 18 months.

He supports more than 10 dairy farmers and employs nine workers at his milk parlour-cum-eating joint. “I was earning well as a corporate marketing executive, but in the heart I knew that it was not my calling. So I convinced my family to switch to entrepreneurship,” says Pradeep.

He made a humble beginning by selling cow milk on a mobile vending-cart. Gradually, he moved to a rented accommodation on the busy Delhi road.

“I had to keep the shutters down for three months when the lockdown was in force. But I had faith in my workers and I retained them despite not having any income. I had to borrow money from my family to stay afloat during the testing times. As the restrictions were lifted, the business bounced back,” he recalls.
