        security CAIRO, Aug 30
        (AFP)  The Egyptian police tightened security
        around the embassies of the USA, Britain and Israel for
        fear of reprisals following US raids 10 days ago against
        targets in Sudan and Afghanistan. Access for trucks and
        vans to streets around the embassies had been restricted
        for the past week, police officials said today. The
        number of anti-terrorist police and security officers
        responsible for guarding the three embassies had also
        been reinforced, they said.
 JD seeks probeNEW DELHI,
        Aug 30 (PTI)  The Janata Dal today sought a
        high-level probe into the "mistaken" killing of
        five persons, including two Nagaland policemen, by
        Manipur Police commandos at Imphal yesterday and alleged
        it was an attempt on the life of Nagalands former
        Speaker Thamicho Angami. Mr Angami was saved by his
        bodyguards who fell on him and were killed in the
        shooting by the Manipur Police commandos, senior Janata
        Dal leader Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters here.
 Quake in AzamgarhNEW DELHI,
        Aug 30 (PTI)  An earthquake of slight intensity hit
        the Azamgarh region in Uttar Pradesh this afternoon. The
        tremor measured 4.8 on the Richter scale was reported at
        1.40 p.m., the Meteorological Office here said.
 65 killed in NepalKATHMANDU,
        Aug 30 (AP)  A flash flood and a landslide
        triggered by heavy monsoon rain swept away at least 65
        people in a remote mountainous region in Nepals
        midwest, the state-run Radio Nepal said today. Villagers
        have recovered 13 bodies so far in the Syangja district
        from the Andhi and Bhod rivers, swollen by heavy rain and
        from riverside villages where boulders and mud poured in
        yesterday. The area is about 160 km west of Kathmandu,
        the capital of the Himalayan kingdom.
 17 die in bus
        mishapISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (AFP)  At least 17 people were
        killed and 44 injured today when a crowded bus plunged
        into a ravine in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, police said.
        They said the driver of the vehicle lost control near
        Teray, four km from Muzaffarabad. Police said the
        overloaded bus was carrying 65 passengers.
