BATHINDA
Vaccination camp:
The 105 Air Defence Regiment organised a free hepatitis-B vaccination camp to celebrate the golden jubilee of the regiment and the "year of jawans". In a press note issued here on Sunday defence authorities said the second dose would be given in May. A blood donation camp would also be organised in May.

GURDASPUR
Booked:
The police on Monday booked Satnam Singh, alias Satpal, of Kot Dhandhal village under Section 420, IPC, for charging Rs 2.10 lakh from several village youths for sending them abroad. According to Mr Varinder Kumar, SSP, the accused has absconded.

JALANDHAR
Dearness relief:
The All-India Central Government Pensioners Association here has urged the Union Government to ensure simultaneous disbursement of the additional instalment of dearness relief to 36 lakh central employees and 33 lakh central pensioners throughout the country.

KAPURTHALA
Meeting boycott:
Ten members of the local Municipal Council in a joint statement on Sunday alleged that the president of council has been adopting partiality in the development work of their wards. They also boycotted the general meeting of the council held here on April 6.

MOGA
Complaints:
Local consumers have complained against the gas agencies for selling underweight cooking gas cylinders. They alleged that they were refused supplies by the agencies when they lodged a protest. They sought an inquiry into it.

NAWANSHAHR
Cooking gas cylinders:
Resentment prevails among residents here for facing problems in getting cooking gas cylinders. People allege although a backlog of 15 days exists, yet cylinders are being reserved for certain VIP's, and other high officials. They have sought action against the agency holders.

Elected:

Procession: To celebrate the tercentenary of the Khalsa, a procession was organised on Monday jointly by the Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Sector 46, and the Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Sector 46. People in large numbers took part with great enthusiasm. A “bhandara” and “Chhabeel” were also arranged.

Function: The children of Christ High School, Sector 9, on Monday held a function in the schools premises. The function started with the recitation of shabads, followed by a paper-reading contest on Guru Gobind Singh. A cultural programme, comprising gidha and skits, was also organised. Mrs Isa Das, the Director and the Principal of the school, stressed the need for co-operation and oneness of all humanity and religions.

Programme: Celebrations were held at Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, on Monday. The programme began with a paper being read on the significance of the tercentenary and the formation of the Khalsa. This was followed by shabad recitals by students.

Elected: The following have been elected office-bearers of the Executive Committee, Department of Sports, Panjab University: President — Mr H.R. Gandhar; Senior Vice-President — Dr (Mrs) Kirpal Kaur Randhawa; Vice-President — Mr Jaswant Singh Grewal; and Prof I.N. Chaudhary.

Satsang: The Shri Yog Vedant Seva Samiti, will organise a satsang of Shri Asa Ramji Bapu, in 3809, Sector 32-D, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and in 320, Phase-I, Mohali at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Celebration: The local Brahman Sabha will celebrate Bhagvan Parshu Ram Jayanti at Shri Ram Mandir in Sector 2 here on April 18. The State Labour and Employment Minister, Mr Ramesh Chander Kaushik, would be the chief guest.

AMBALA
Culprit nabbed:
The police here has arrested Rakesh, alias Bobby, who was wanted in connection with several crimes. Mr M.S. Malik, Superintendent of Police, said here on Sunday that the suspect was allegedly involved in several murder cases at Kota Bundi, Noida, Meerut, Delhi and Moradabad.

Salaries not paid: Mr U.V. Singh, Vice-President of the Haryana College Teachers' Union, on Sunday sought the release of salaries and UGC pay scales for teachers. He said salaries had not been paid for the past four months which had led to resentment among teachers.

BHIWANI
Sarv-jatiya jatha:
Mr Kanwarbir Singh, President, Jan Adhikar Kartavya Samiti, said here on Sunday that a "sarv jatiya jatha" would leave for Bihar on April 12 where it would meet various warring groups and appeal to them to maintain brotherhood and follow the path of non-violence and restore peace in the state.

Wards: The reservation of wards for zila parishad here will be done on April 13 at a general meeting. According to administrative sources, 24 wards have been fixed, out of which five wards for Scheduled Castes, one for backward classes and eight for women have been reserved.

Fire: Machinery and yarn worth lakhs of rupees has been reduced to ashes at the local Bhiwani Textile Mills. The fire reportedly started in the spinning wing of the mill at 5.15 p.m on Sunday. The cause stated to be a sparking caused by friction in machine parts.

SIRSA
Office-bearers:
The following have been elected office-bearers of the Pensioners Association here: President — Mr M.L. Syal; Senior Vice-President — Mr K.L. Singla; Vice-President — Mr Yashpal Sharma; General Secretary — Mr Rishikesh Gumber; and Chief Treasurer Mr Shanti Swaroop.

Assaulted: Santokh Singh, Pritam Singh, Kheta Singh and two other persons of Bishanpur were arrested by the Rania police under Sections 107 and 151, IPC, on Saturday on a charge of an attempt to assault Bhimraj of Abohali village and Nazar Singh of Gobindpura village. The cause of the assault was stated to be an old enemity.

Meeting held: A meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committee was held here on Saturday. Mr Om Prakash Mahajan, Minister for Excise and Taxation, Haryana, presided . The Deputy Commissioner and senior officers of the district were also present.

Exam malpractices: A deputation of parents of students of plus 1 class, science stream, of the local Government National Postgraduate College called upon the Principal of the college and informed him about the malpractices used in the chemistry paper during the annual examinations held in March. They alleged that the question paper was out of syllabus. They also met the Deputy Commissioner and sought 20 grace marks.

Campaign: Mr B.S. Sandhu, SP, said here on Sunday that the police had launched a special campaign to check smuggling of liquor in the district. During the campaign 750 liquor pouches and 10 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from various places. Some arrests had also been made, he added.

Power theft: The police here registered a case against under Sections 379, IPC and 39 of the Electricity Act against Sher Singh for alleged power thefts at Vanwala village in the district on the complaint of SDO, Lajpatrai.

Abducted: A case under Sections 363 and 366, IPC, on the charge of abducting a 14-year-old girl, Manju has been registered against Sethi Ram, a local resident, at the city police station on Sunday on the complaint of Nathuram Soni, father of the girl.

Case registered: Harbans Singh, a patwari of Bhadra village in the district, in a complaint to the police alleged that he was threatened by Mohinder Lal, a farmer of the same village, on Sunday. A case under Sections 353, 186 and 506, IPC, has been registered. The accused has reportedly absconded.

SONEPAT
Janata darbar:
A "janata darbar" was held here on Sunday in which about 60 complaints were disposed of. Mr P.K. Mahapatra, Deputy Commissioner, presided.

Power cuts: The Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) changed the schedule of the daily power cut from Monday in the urban areas of the city. Mr S.K. Handa, Superintending Engineer (Operation), Sonepat circle, said the HVPN would impose a power cut from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. top

Economic programmes:
Mr A.C. Lal, Bishop, diocese of Amritsar, said six major economic programmes had been launched for the socio-economic upliftment of Dalits and the poor and to bring awareness about education and health. He was speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the church here on Sunday.

SHIMLA
Symposium:
The Vidyarthi Parishad of Himachal Pradesh University organised a symposium on Monday on the campus of the university to celebrate the tercentenary of the Khalsa Panth. A lecture on Guru Gobind Singh and his contribution to the social and cultural development of Himachal Pradesh was also delivered.
