JAMMU, April, 18 — The BSF today foiled an infiltration bid by Pak trained militants when two insurgents were killed while they were sneaking into the Indian territory from across the International Border at Londi village in Kathua district.

The BSF spokesman said the border guards spotted through night vision devices some movement on the border. The BSF parties were alerted immediately. The moment the two militants entered the Indian territory, they were challenged. They opened fire and the BSF retaliated, killing both the militants on the spot.

One assault rifle, three magazines, 155 rounds of ammunition, four pistols, six pistol magazines, 110 rounds of pistol ammunition and other explosives were recovered from them.

The BSF jawans have been put on maximum alert following reports that large groups of militants were being pushed into Indian territory from across the border. Additional naka parties have been established all along the border.

Nine Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by the BSF as they crossed the border.

In another incident the Pak troops fired four rockets towards Sidharwan village in Akhnoor sector. Three of the rockets exploded near the field without causing any damage.

SRINAGAR: The Rajouri District sessions judge had a narrow escape when militants attacked his convoy in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official spokesman said today, the Rajouri district Sessions Court Judge, Mr K.K. Paroch, escaped unhurt in a militant attack which left two policemen of his escort party killed and three jawans injured near Rajouri town yesterday.

Elsewhere, eight persons, including a Sub-Inspector of BSF, a Special Police Officer (SPO) were killed and five wounded in separate incidents of violence.

The spokesman said militants attacked the district Sessions Court Judge's convoy at Behrot village of Rajouri when he was on way back from Shahdara Sharief to Rajouri.

The cross-firing between escort members and militants continued for 15 minutes after which the militants escaped.

A police constable, Gulzar Hussain lost his life and four jawans were wounded seriously in the militants firing.

A BSF Sub-Inspector, Beeru Singh, was killed and another jawan was wounded in a surprise militant attack at Pattan, 27 km from here, on Srinagar-Baramula road last evening.

Militants attacked the jawans from a close range using silencer-fitted pistols when they were busy shopping, the spokesman said.

Militants also beheaded a SPO, Farooq Ahmad at Lotta village in the Basant Garh area of Udhampur district last evening.

Two decomposed bodies were fished out by the police from Chenab river, one at Thathri and other at Martara-Ramban in Doda district of Jammu yesterday. The police also recovered body of a woman from Jhelum river at Maharajgunj in downtown Srinagar today.

Meanwhile a shopkeeper, Mohammad Iqbal was killed and another person was seriously injured in an explosion which took place in Iqbal’s shop at Panzgam in frontier district of Kupwara yesterday.
