Kalyan Singh to float new party

VARANASI, Dec 6 (PTI) —The ousted UP Chief Minister, Mr Kalyan Singh, today declared that he would form a new party immediately after his expulsion from the BJP and it would contest all 425 Assembly seats in the next elections in the state on the plank of “real Hindutva”.

“The new party is in the offing and it will be formed just after my expulsion,” he told reporters here ruling out his joining any existing party.

He told reporters here that the new party would be based on the ideal of of “real Hindutva accepted by all sections of society, caste, creed and religion.”

“The BJP workers are feeling suffocated as the party has deviated from its policies and programmes”, he said claiming that over one lakh workers of 83 districts of UP, have so far met him since his suspension.

Answering to a question about corruption charges levelled by some BJP leaders against him and his family members, Mr Kalyan Singh said his family members were ready to face any inquiry.

Thakre moves DAC for action

NEW DELHI, Dec 6 — The process of expelling former UP Chief Minister, Mr Kalyan Singh, from the BJP seems to have been initiated with the party President, Mr Kushabhau Thakre, today referring Mr Kalyan Singh’s reply to the show cause notice served on him to the disciplinary action committee.

Mr Thakre passed on the former Chief Minister’s reply to the DAC Chairman, Mr J.P.Mathur. The committee is expected to meet on Wednesday to consider the issue, Mr Mathur said.

The party General Secretary, Mr M.Venkiah Naidu said the party was left with no scope but to expel Mr Kalyan Singh in the wake of his statements after the show cause notice issued to him by the party President.

“Mr Kalyan Singh’s response to the notice seems to have decided his course as the response is also one of indiscipline and the next course of action will be taken on the recommendation of the disciplinary committee”, he said.

Mr Naidu said the party was following constitutional procedure by referring the issue to the DAC.

Rs 10 raise for Home Guards

SHIMLA, Dec 6 — The Himachal Government has decided to increase the remuneration of Home Guards from Rs 60 to Rs 70 per day.

This was announced by the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Kumar Dhumal, while speaking at a function to mark the 37th raising day of Home Guards and Civil Defence at Baldiyan near, here today. He also said that the government was considering to give reservation to Home Guard volunteers in the police, Forest and Transport departments.

The Chief Minister said the rules in the Police Department for appointment of band masters would be relaxed so that the band master from Home Guards could be recruited in the Police Department.

Lauding the services of Home Guards, he said the organisation which was created in 1962 in the wake of Chinese aggression as second line of defence had done a good job in helping the police administration in maintaining law and order and also at times of natural calamities.

It was performing various duties in the right earnest.The Chief Minister exhorted Home Guards to work with more vigour and said that the government would take steps to strengthen the organisation.

The Chief Minister gave a grant of Rs 50,000 for promotion of cultural activities in the Home Guards.He also announced Opening of a veterinary hospital at Baldiyan and sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for the construction of a senior secondary school building at Baldiyan.

Mr Basant Singh, Director General, Home Guards, while welcoming the Chief Minister underlined the need for strengthening the Home Guards organisation.
