Govt ready for talks with militant bodies
White Paper soon on ISI activities: Advani
NEW DELHI, Dec 15 — The government is not averse to holding talks with militant organisations in Jammu and Kashmir but ruled out parleys with secessionist elements, Home Minister L.K. Advani said in the Lok Sabha today. Mr Advani, however, clarified that talks could be held “only within the framework of the Constitution.’’

Jaswant sets terms for talks with Pak
DUBAI, Dec 15 — External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh has virtually ruled out the possibility of India holding any meaningful dialogue with Pakistan as long as Islamabad continued to encourage fundamentalism and cross-border terrorism.

DSP, jawan die in rocket attacks
SRINAGAR, Dec 15 — Militants attacked an Army camp and a camp of the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir last night killing a Deputy Superintendent of Police and an Army jawan and injuring more than 10 others.

SAD suspends Ravi Inder
CHANDIGARH, Dec 15 — The Working Committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal today suspended Mr Ravi Inder Singh, party MLA, for his anti-party activities. Though the resolution (no 6) mentioned about his “expulsion” from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years, the SAD President and Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, got this corrected, asking mediapersons to substitute the word “suspended” instead of “expelled”.

ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 — Framing of charges in the plane hijacking case against deposed Pakistan Premier Nawaz Sharif and six others is likely to be delayed further as the prosecution is refusing to give copies of the black box recordings to the defence.
