No consensus on women’s Bill
NEW DELHI, Dec 22 — The government today decided to introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill in its present form in the Lok Sabha tomorrow after an all-party meeting called in the morning by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee failed to reach a consensus on the controversial Bill. “The government will introduce the Bill tomorrow in its present form”, Mr Vajpayee told newspersons.

COLOMBO, Dec 22 — Ms Chandrika Kumaratunga was today sworn in as Sri Lanka’s President for the second consecutive term, immediately after she was re-elected to office riding on the crest of a sympathy wave following an abortive assassination attempt by the LTTE, and made a fervent plea to militant cadres to prevail upon their leader V. Prabhakran to return to the negotiating table “without further delay”.
