PWG blasts rly station in
Bihar
PATNA, Dec 24 (UNI)
Peoples War Group (PWG) extremists made yet
another major attack on the Railways, bombing the Varuna
station on the Arrah-Buxar section of the Eastern
Railways Danapur Division late last night.
This was the third major
attack on Railway property in Bihar during the past week.
State Director-General
of Police K.A. Jacob told UNI here that 50 activists of
the Naxalite outfit attacked the station around midnight.
They asked the Railway employees to leave their post
before blasting the station building.
He said that Railway
property in and around the station area was destroyed and
both up and down lines were partially damaged. The
extremists also torched the nearby cabin affecting the
signalling system on the route.
Mr Jacob said the ultras
had left some leaflets owning responsibility for the
incident. They called it was in retaliation to the
killing of their five so-called area commanders, four in
Andhra Pradesh and one in Bihar in police encounter
recently.
Mr Jacob said senior
police officials were camping at the station.
