NEW DELHI, July 8 — Inflicting heavy casualties on the Pakistani intruders, the gallant Indian jawans moved further in both the Dras and Batalik sub-sectors of the Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir capturing the spur to the west of the Tiger Hill top, North Bump, Kukarthang peak and another position in the last 24 hours.

Sharif briefs key aides
ISLAMABAD, July 8 — Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned home today amid tight security and immediately briefed the army top brass and other key members of the establishment about his parleys on the Kargil crisis with US President Bill Clinton, which provoked strong protests in the country although President Rafiq Tarar termed the mission as a "great diplomatic success".

Dras residents returning
KARGIL, July 8 — An occasional burst of artillery fire notwithstanding, people in Dras and Thasagam have started returning to their deserted homes after almost two months.
