Congress role harmful, says PM
CALCUTTA, March 20 — Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today accused the Congress of trying to capture power at the Centre through undemocratic means and said the party was playing the role of a destructive opposition.
"We have no objection if the Congress captures power in a democratic way. But how can a party which has no inner-party democracy follow democratic norms?" he said.

Symbolic filling up of SYL canal
DOOMCHHERRI (Ropar), March 20 — The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by its president, Mr Simranjit Singh Mann, today symbolically filled up a part of the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal on the boundary of Ropar and Fatehgarh Sahib districts near here with a view to permanently block the flow of Punjab water through this canal.
