NEW DELHI, March 25
The Union Home Ministry has summoned Bihars Home
Secretary and its Director-General of Police here on
Saturday for a meeting.
The Home Minister, Mr L.K.
Advani, said today that the officials have been called
for a meeting and reiterated that the Centre had taken
steps to send 10 companies of para-military forces to the
State.
It may be recalled that
the President of the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal, Mr
Laloo Prasad Yadav, and the Congress party had alleged
that the Centre had withdrawn central police forces from
the State soon after lifting of the Presidents
rule.
The Home Ministry today
maintained that the State had 30 companies of central
forces which remained since and that it had always been
asking the State Government to prepare an action plan to
control the violence.
Home Ministry sources said
several months ago, it was decided by the State
administration to tackle Left-wing extremism in 17
identified districts. For operational reasons these
districts were separated in two grades.
Meanwhile, to a question
if the Home Ministry had taken note of the threat by the
Ranvir Sena to retaliate to the Senari killings, Mr
Advani said it was hoped the State government would take
measures to prevent such incidents.
"I hope the State
Government will take note of all statements being made
and ensure protection to all sections of the society
particularly the weaker sections", Mr Advani said.
