BHUBANESWAR, Nov 1 — Food riots have broken out in Orissa’s cyclone ravaged coastal districts, including the state capital, even as the rescue and relief teams of armed forces struggled to access the worst hit areas today, three days after the calamity struck.

AMRITSAR, Nov 1 — As pressure has been mounting on Giani Kewal Singh, Jathedar Damdama Sahib, to quit his post immediately after the registration of a case under Section 304-B of the IPC against him at Talwandi Sabo on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Bibi Jagir Kaur, president SGPC has said that 'suitable decision' would be taken at an appropriate time to uphold the honour and prestige of the Takht.

JAMMU, Nov 1 — Over 80 per cent of the 1400 Village Defence Committee members have not received their paltry wages for the past six months due to severe cash crisis and on account of a wide gap between the committee sanctioned by the Centre and the number that function in reality.
