Quake rocks region

CHANDIGARH, Nov 8
Hundreds of residents of the city came out of their
houses as an earthquake rocked the city late tonight.
The earthquake rocked
the city around 10.18 p.m. The Tribune office was flooded
with calls from anxious residents wanting to know about
the quake and its after effects.
Residents of Sectors 20,
23, 44, 45 and other areas in the southern part of the
city felt the tremor and came out on the streets.
Till the time of filing
this report, no loss of life had been reported.
The adjoining areas in
Punjab and Haryana also experienced the tremor. A report
from Jalandhar said that a mild tremor hit the city at
10.22 p.m.
SRINAGAR: Two
tremors shook Srinagar and its adjoining areas on Monday
night, rattling doors and windows and forcing people to
rush out of their houses in panic.
The first tremor of mild
intensity was felt around 10.18 p.m., followed by a
severe shock two minutes later.
There was no immediate
report of loss of life or damage to property, the police
said.
