Kalyan quits, says no to Central post

LUCKNOW, Nov 11 — Mr Ram Prakash Gupta was today formally elected leader of the UP BJP Legislature Party shortly after the Chief Minister, Mr Kalyan Singh, resigned and proposed his name for the leadership to facilitate change of guard following the party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha polls.

6 BSF men killed in encounter
JAMMU, Nov 11 — While the Indian troops have launched search operations to eliminate or arrest a large group of Pakistani infiltrators who had sneaked into the Indian territory from across Faulad post at Leninmarg, the remote hilly belt of Gulmarg in Uri sector, 19 persons, including six BSF personnel, including an Inspector, and six militants were killed in a major encounter between the militants and the security forces at Panzipora near Sopore town today.

PM reschedules loan repayment
NEW DELHI, Nov 11 — The Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, today directed rescheduling of repayment of Rs 104 crore loan by Orissa in view of the devastating super cyclone as the state Chief Minister, Mr Giridhar Gamang, sought Central assistance of Rs 10,000 crore for rehabilitation in the affected areas.
