Faleiro to seek trust vote on Nov 24
PANAJI, Nov 20 — The Congress appears to have cooked its own goose by expelling four ministers and the Deputy Speaker for anti-party activities leading to a revolt by another six MLAs reducing its ministry in Goa to a minority. Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro today expressed happiness on being "given a chance" to prove his majority.

300 crore sanctioned to Orissa
NEW DELHI, Nov 20 — The Centre today sanctioned Rs 300 crore ex gratia assistance for damaged houses and for other relief operations in cyclone-ravaged Orissa. Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha sanctioned the money soon after Orissa Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang met him and apprised him of the status of relief operations.

Sharif faces hostile witnesses
KARACHI, Nov 20 (Reuters) — Ousted Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appeared in court today to hear witnesses give statements against him as part of a legal process for the formal lodging of charges.

No advocates for Sharif’s party
ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 — The much-awaited joint petition by deposed Premier Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League to challenge the military take-over is likely to be delayed as all advocates-on-record at the Supreme Court here have refused to file the petition on behalf of the party.

Blast in haveli: 11 killed
JAIPUR, Nov 20 — Eleven person, including eight of a family, were killed, and four injured in an explosion which brought down half of a haveli (mansion) at Amwara village in Sawaimadhopur district yesterday, the police said today.


Mines no solution to infiltration
RAJOURI (Jammu), Nov 20 — The defence authorities are not in favour of mining those stretches of the Line of Control (LoC) which are used as routes for infiltration by the militants on the plea that insurgents with the help of Pak troops "breach the mines by breaching equipment to provide safe corridor to the infiltrators."
