JAMMU, Oct 4 — Indian troops with artillery mortars and machine guns stood guard on the 1260 km long Indo-Pakistan border today to foil JKLF plan of crossing the LoC. The biggest concentration of troops was in Uri and Poonch sectors.

1 dead, 14 hurt in poll violence
ANANTNAG, Oct 4 — At least one person was killed and 14 persons were injured in poll-related violence in Anantnag Parliamentary constituency that went to the polls today. A PTI report put the number of injured at 25, mostly securitymen.

2 die in Bengal post-poll clashes
CALCUTTA, Oct 4 — At least two persons were killed, several injured and over 60 houses torched in post-poll clashes in West Bengal since last night.

Countermand poll in Madhepura: JD (U), BJP
PATNA, Oct 4 — The BJP-Janata Dal (United) combine today threatened to launch an agitation if the election in Madhepura constituency was not countermanded as, it alleged, the ruling RJD had indulged in large-scale booth capturing during polling yesterday.

Violence mars Manipur poll
NEW DELHI, Oct 4 — Only four per cent voters turned out amid explosions and firing by militants and allegations of coercion by security forces in the Anantnag parliamentary constituency while intimidation of voters, snatching of polling material and firing between security personnel and NSCN (I-M) activists marred polling for the Outer Manipur (ST) Lok Sabha seat today.

Tohra announces 'Shadow Cabinet'
AMRITSAR, Oct 4 — The Sarab Hind Shiromani Akali Dal, led by Mr Gurcharan Singh Tohra would form a "shadow cabinet" to monitor performance of the SAD-BJP government, after the declaration of the results of the recently held Lok Sabha elections.
