Cultural Scene
Many moods, many textures
Tribune News Service

CHANDIGARH, Oct 5 — The on-going exhibition of Dr S.S. Bhatti, a former Principal, Chandigarh College of Architecture, at the Indus Ind Art Gallery, Sector 8, appears to be an amalgamation of many moods, shades and even textures.

The exhibition, which has about 18 works on display, includes landscapes, abstract works and even works in the mixed media. Some of his works display some intriguing architectural compositions, which certainly reflect the architect in him. But with an array of works on display it does baffle the viewer about the real brilliance of the artist, since it seems that too much is being shown in too little space.

But his five works done in the 22" by 30" size do appear to dominate by their sheer magnitude and proportion.

This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr S.K. Sharma, President of the Environment Society of India. Dr Sharma announced that the painting titled 'Save Me, I'm Tree' will be purchased by the Environment Society and also published as a poster along with a poem on the same subject written by the artist himself.

On the occasion, Dr Bhatti also read out his poems that explained three of his paintings in verse. Terming Dr Bhatti's creativity as being very versatile, Mr Kamleshwar Sinha, Associate Editor, The Tribune, said that the artist was also a poet and a philosopher and called him the William Blake of the city.

This exhibition can be viewed at the Gallery till October 12 daily, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.Back
