Congress wins Faridkot, Patiala, ahead in seven other seats

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) — The Congress wrested the Faridkot seat from the Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal (SAD-B) and was ahead in seven of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab, as per the trends available till this afternoon.

In Patiala, Praneet Kaur of the Congress defeated Surjeet Singh Rakhra of SAD-B.

However, SAD-B candidate Tirlochan Singh Tur retained the Tarn Taran seat, defeating his nearest rival of the Congress Gurinder Singh Kairon by a margin of 70,000 votes.

Union Minister of State for Industry Sukhbir Singh Badal of the SAD-B lost the Faridkot seat to Jagmeet Singh Brar of the Congress by a narrow margin of 3414 votes.

In Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, Union Food Minister Surjit Singh Barnala of the SAD-B was trailing Simranjit Singh Mann of the SAD-A by a margin of 1038 votes.

The Congress was ahead in the Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Ropar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Phillaur and Amritsar constituencies while the Communist Party of India was leading in Bathinda.

Cinestar and member of the dissolved Lok Sabha Vinod Khanna was trailing behind Congress nominee Sukhbans Kaur Bhinder by 3162 votes.

Mrs Santosh Chaudhary of the Congress was leading by over 4,000 votes over her nearest rival Satnam Singh Kainth of the Bahujan Samaj Morcha in Phillaur (SC) constituency.

Congress Party's Balbir Singh was leading by over 22,000 votes over Prabhjot Kaur of SAD-B in Jalandhar. In Ludhiana, Gurcharan Singh ghalib of Congress had a lead of about 25,000 votes over Amrik Singh Aliwal of SAD-B.

In Hoshiarpur, Charanjit Singh Channi of the Congress was leading by 3152 votes over BJP's Kamal Chaudhary. In Amritsar, former Union Minister R L Bhatia of the Congress was ahead by 10,000 votes over Daya Singh sodhi of the BJP.

In Ropar (SC), Shamsher Singh Dulo of the Congress was leading by 27,000 votes over Satwinder Singh Dhaliwal of the SAD-B.

In the Bathinda (SC) constituency, CPI's Bhan Singh Bhaura was leading by 12,175 votes over Chatin Singh of SAD-B.
