PPSC told to halt tests,
interviews

PATIALA, Oct 20
The Punjab Government has directed the Punjab Public
Service Commission (PPSC) to put on hold all tests and
interviews.
Sources in the PPSC told
TNS that the letter of the state government stated that
it planned to conduct a cadre review and that the
commission should not go ahead with scheduled tests and
interviews. The letter said only interviews which were
under way should be continued.
Those who have suffered
due to this direction are aspirants for the post of
Deputy Superintendent of Police. The schedule of the
commission with regard to the month of November, which
was to be finalised in the last week of October, has also
been put on hold.
Commission Chairman
Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu was not available for comment.
Other officials refused to come on record.
Commission sources said
interviews for the post of Lecturer. (Mechanical) were on
and would end on November 4. Interviews last held by the
commission were for the post of Agricultural Development
Officer.
Officials refused to
divulge details of the letter by the state government,
saying they were not authorised to do so.
The decision comes after
the declaration of results of the Punjab Civil Service
Examination conducted by commission.
