IRA Bill tabled amid walkout
NEW DELHI, Oct 28 — The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Bill, 1999, to set up a regulatory body for the sector and open it up to private and foreign investors, was introduced in the Lok Sabha today even as non-Congress Opposition parties staged a walkout in protest against the measure.

Clinton waives sanctions on India
WASHINGTON, Oct 28 — President Bill Clinton yesterday waived economic sanctions imposed on India after its May 1998 nuclear tests but kept all but two penalties against Pakistan because a military government had taken power there.

Peaceful polling in Bihar
NEW DELHI, Oct 28 — Polling for four Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and one constituency in Assam passed off peacefully today with an estimated voters turnout of 55 per cent.
