Cash reserve ratio down by 1 pc
MUMBAI, Oct 29 — The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today infused Rs 7000 crore into the banking system with a 1 per cent cut in the cash reserve ratio (CRR) but indicated prime lending rates (PLR) would not be lowered by banks due to constraints faced by them.

Hundreds feared killed
BHUBANESWAR, Oct 29 — Several hundred persons were feared killed and over 10 million affected as the super cyclone with a velocity of more than 260 km per hour hit 10 coastal districts of Orissa for more than eight hours today.

VHP rath yatra stopped again
NEW DELHI, Oct 29 — The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rath yatra protesting the papal’s visit was prevented by the Madhya Pradesh Government from entering the state for the second day today even as Sangh Parivar outfits spoke in different voices on the issue of apology from the Pontiff for alleged atrocities by the church in India.
