NEW YORK, Sept 28 — The USA has categorically rejected Pakistan's plea for its intervention to resolve the Kashmir issue, telling Islamabad firmly that it should settle the problem bilaterally with India taking into consideration the views of the Kashmiris.

5-year jail for Harshad, three others
MUMBAI, Sept 28 — The special court today sentenced "big bull" Harshad Mehta and three others to five years rigorous imprisonment holding them guilty of misappropriating Rs 38.97 crore from Maruti Udyog Ltd, which fuelled the securities scam and rocked the nation seven years ago.

6 Pak infiltrators killed
JAMMU, Sept 28 — Six Pakistani infiltrators were killed by the Indian troops at two places and among the killed were three Pakistani soldiers.

NEW DELHI, Sept 28 — A meeting of the Cauvery River Authority, convened by the Prime Minister tomorrow, has been cancelled after the Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr J.H. Patel, conveyed to the Centre that he was indisposed and would not be able to attend the meeting.

Beware of toxic vegetables
CHANDIGARH, Sept 28 — Beware of the vegetables you eat. These may be toxic. Experts in Punjab Agriculture University engaged in indexing of nutrients in various foodgrains and vegetables have stumbled on toxic elements in certain vegetables while analysing these in the laboratories.
