        Jan 29  The INLD today released its first list of
        48 candidates for the coming Haryana Assembly elections
        amid indications that it was all set to conclude an
        understanding with the BJP on seat sharing in the state.

        with complaints about antecedents of candidates, the
        Congress today postponed the selection of nominees for
        the Haryana elections to Monday.

        Jan 29  After a fortnight of bitter bargaining, the
        Biju Janata Dal and its poll ally (BJP) today clinched a
        seat-sharing agreement for the elections to the
        147-member Orissa Assembly, the BJD is to contest the
        lions share of 84 seats.
