NEW DELHI, July 8 — Senior BJP leaders today lent support to RSS chief K. Sudarshan’s demand for the imposition of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir and scrapping of Article 370.  

Blast in church sparks arson
HUBLI, July 8 — A bomb exploded in St Johns Luthern Church here following which arson and violence broke out forcing the police to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the mob which torched a state road transport corporation bus on the Gadag road in Dharwad district today.

Pak PR exercise on PoK fails

 House tax formula shelved
CHANDIGARH, July 8 — Faced with the rising wave of resentment among the people against the new formula of calculating house tax in municipal towns the Haryana Government today put the move in cold storage for at least one year.

NEW DELHI, July 8 — Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said today the government will move “definitively and mercilessly” against wilful defaulters of bank loans which may result in imprisonment and attachment of property.

Boat nakas on the Ravi
SHAHPUR (Indo-Pak Border), July 8 — Even as the central government has fenced the entire 533 km Punjab border yet the meandering Ravi which flows through Pakistan can be exploited by smugglers and anti-social elements. In order to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy, the Border Security Force (BSF) put up at least 100 boat nakas at various locations of the river in Amritsar and Gurdaspur border districts.
