Birdhwal ammunition dump on fire
Soldier killed * Villagers evacuated * Traffic on NH 15 diverted
 Suratgarh, May 24
Hundreds of villagers were evacuated after a major fire broke out at the Birdhwal field ammunition dump, near here, this noon. The Army has sealed off a 20-km area in the radius of the dump. Road and rail traffic has come to a standstill and hundreds of commuters and vehicles have lined on both sides of Bikaner National Highway 15.

900 fishermen missing, Army alerted
Cyclone may hit Gujarat coast tomorrow
Veraval (Junagadh), May 24
As many as 900 fishermen who ventured out in 120 boats have been reported missing in the Arabian Sea in Gujarat, official sources today said. While 200 of them in 40 boats went missing near Veraval, 700 fishermen who set sail in 80 boats were reported missing from Valsad region of south Gujarat.

President’s rule may be imposed in Manipur due to the political crisis arising after the fall of the People’s Front government in the state, Union Minister of State for Food Processing and the NDA emissary Choaba Singh said.

Haryana may have casinos

The Haryana Government is seriously considering promoting casinos in the state to attract foreign and domestic tourists. Talking to TNS, Dr Harbakhsh Singh, Commissioner of the Tourism Department, said the issue of setting up casinos was also discussed with the Union Tourism Minister, Mr Ananth Kumar, yesterday during his trip to Panchkula and the Morni Hills area.
