Emir of Kuwait
by Ranga

"FINE to see myself through your pen", that’s what he said in Arabic when he saw his sketch drawn by me before placing his signature on it.

That was the comment of Sheikh Jaber al Ahmed-al-Jabar-al-Sabha, Emir of Kuwait, who was in Delhi in 1980 on a state visit.

His country was annexed by Iraq and he had to escape to Saudi Arabia along with his family and his followers and establish his government-in-exile.

He ultimately regained control over his country with the intervention of American forces. Today, the Emir of Kuwait enjoys a good rapport with all Arab countries.

The Emir had a very busy time throughout his short stay in Delhi.

Despite his tight schedule, the Emir found time in between his engagements to have his sketch made and autograph it.
