Patch chord:
Also known as patch cable, a patch cord is a piece of copper wire or
fibre optic cable that connects circuits on a patch panel.
Patch panel:
A panel of network ports contained together, usually within a
telecommunications closet that connects incoming and outgoing lines of a
LAN or other communication, electronic or electrical system. In a LAN,
the patch panel connects the network's computers to each other and to
the outside lines that enable the LAN to connect to the Internet or
another WAN.
E911:
Short for Enhanced 911, a location technology advanced by the FCC that
will enable mobile, or cellular phones to process 911 emergency calls
and enable emergency services to locate the geographic position of the
caller. When a person makes a 911 call using a traditional phone with
ground wires, the call is routed to the nearest public safety answering
point (PSAP) that then distributes the emergency call to the proper
services.
