Neha Grover, Panchkula A. The Microsoft Windows Whistler was the name for the beta version of the now called Windows XP. Since beta versions are meant for testing and not for commercial use, so its specific drivers are not commonly available. However, you may search the compatible drivers on various sites, including the site of your product manufacturer. You may also use Windows 2000 version of drivers. For more information on this product and drivers you can browse the site www.realtek.com.tw/htm/products/cp/als4000.htm and www.bestunion.com.hk etc. For converting NTFS file system to FAT 32 file system, you can use software like partition magic, partition manager etc. Q. Normally, this type of error occurs, when you forget to connect the power cord to your PC or have not connected power to hard disk from the SMPS. It can also happen if the connections are loose. Generally speaking, this happens when, there is a loose power connection from SMPS to your hard disk. Please ensure all connections are in place as the first logical step towards the solution of your problem. However, if the problem persists, then you may have to contact your hardware vendor. Q. How can I pop or download mails from Rediffmail account to Yahoo! mail account? Senthil Nathan A. You can use the Yahoo! account to check mails from your 3 POP mail accounts. However, for using this facility you will need the POP server address of all accounts, you wish to access through the Yahoo! e-mail account. For accessing the POP mail from Yahoo!, simply open your inbox and then click on check other mail option, which is situated above the first message. Simply click on it and then click on add mail server option for adding POP accounts. Now since Rediffmail is not a POP email account and is rather a web based email account. Thus you will not be able to access it from Yahoo. Q. Sir, I have Celeron 667 MHz processor, 10.2 HDD, 810e motherboard with Windows ’98 SE as operating system. I am having P III system and have installed MSOffice ’97 but when I open Microsoft Access the computer displays message that "Microsoft Access cannot start because there is no license for it on this machine." I have uninstalled MS office and loaded it again but to no effect. Arun Mahajan A. You will have to install Microsoft Access first before attempting to use it. From your mail it appears that you have chosen the custom installation setting, while installing the Microsoft Office ’97 and have unchecked the installation of Microsoft Access. That’s why, you are getting this problem. To solve this problem add the Microsoft access from the add/remove option of Ms Office setup. Q. I have bought a new P 4 with original Windows Me loaded free. My hard disk has only one partition on which it is installed. I want to make 3 or 4 partitions on my hard disk. If I do that with Fdisk then my original Win Me will be lost. I have a CD with this PC labelled ‘recovery CD.’ I want to partition my hard disk and don’t want to lose original Win Me. How can I do it? Nirmaljeet Singh A. You must claim from your hardware vendor, your OEM CD of Microsoft Windows Me, as it might be required later in future also. By having the installation CD, you should ideally attempt to format and partition the hard disk. However, if you cannot do this then, you can use software like Partition Magic and can download it from the Internet. However, before using this software you must read all instructions first and should necessarily take the back up of your critical data and files. Q. I have Intel Celeron 500, 810 Azza Motherboard 20 GB HDD, 64 MB RAM, Motorola 56 KBPS Internal Modem, BSNL Connection and Windows ’98 Se and Windows 2000 as Operating Systems. Whenever try to download mails from my Yahoo! account through Outlook Express it always demands passwords and never downloads mails ( password is saved and is correct). The same password works well on Website but my ISP mails (mails on Sancharnet.in server) are downloaded without any problem. Secondly, it doesn’t download folders and e-mails from Hotmail.com Since past few days, my Win ’98 works slowly although I regularly clean registry with RegCleaner though Win 2000 works well. I cannot format or reinstall fresh copy of Win ’98 because there are lots of software installed and I don’t have installers. Sandeep Malik, Amritsar A. It appears that you have not configured your Yahoo! account properly in Outlook Express because of which you are having this problem. Try opening a new account for your Yahoo! e-mail and use the name, loginID, server address, password taking care of case sensitivity etc. I am sure this will solve your problem. On getting this problem solved you can delete the earlier e-mail account from Outlook Express. Normally, the password error is attributed to its case sensitivity. So, you should always make sure that your password is being entered correctly. Q. We are having a LAN for the Internet sharing and operating system as Win ’98. We are using postmaster for sending and receiving our mails. I have a printer (HP Deskjet 710 series) and I wish to share the same with one of my colleagues. Please help me in suggesting a solution for this. Malkiat, Ludhiana A. If you wish to share the printer over the same network, then this is not a problem at all as you can share it by installing it over the network. First of all enable sharing on the default printer in the control panel of the PC where the printer is installed. Now from the PC from where the printer has to be accessed, click on network neighborhood. This will show the shared printer along with other shared drive. Now right click on the printer icon and choose option install. This will install the shared printer on the PC, which will use printer over the LAN. Q. I have an assembled PC having 20 GB HDD, 128 MB RAM, 810e motherboard and Motorola Internal Modem. My problem is that when is click to use the Internet Explorer 5.5, it displays a message ‘Please check your content advisor settings for missing information. Click the Tools menu and then check Internet Options. On the content tab, check the Content Advisor settings.’ I followed up the message but was unable to find the right path. How it could be set right back. K. Gaurav Laroiya, Nawanshahr A. This problem occurs when the
Ratings.pol file is damaged or corrupted, or if there is another
Ratings.pol file located in the C:\ Windows folder. For resolving this
problem first of all close all instances of Internet Explorer and check
Windows>System folder to see for a Ratings.pol file exists. This
could also be a hidden file. You must enable previewing hidden files in
my computer or Windows Explorer before you attempt to solve this
problem. After enabling to view the hidden files, if you do not find
Ratings.pol file in the Windows\ System folder, then start Internet
Explorer and on getting the error message click cancel it, close it and
then open the Internet options on the Tools menu. Now click on the
content tab, and then click settings in the content advisor area. Type
the supervisor password, and then click OK. Then choose the ratings
option that meet your criteria and then click OK. Close the Internet
Explorer window. Next time when you open Internet Explorer you may not
find the error message again. However if you find the Ratings.pol file
in Windows> Systems folder, then simply rename it to Ratings.old.
This will solve your problem. |
