NIIT to train MLAs

NIIT, a company predominantly into IT education, has marked December 2, 2001, as World Computer Literacy day. Flagging off the activities leading up to the December 2 World Computer Literacy Day event, Mr Pramod Mahajan, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, IT and Communication, unveiled the D-Day logo. The Chairman NIIT announced a special package of free 20,000 courses for India’s elected leaders and the government school toppers.

The course that has been designed by the company’s in-house R&D cell has been named Swift Jyoti. The company will be harnessing its strengths and resources across 27 countries, including its vast network of nearly 3,000 education centres, to bring IT knowledge into the lives of common man.

On December 2, NIIT will train around 8,000 of India’s elected leaders — MPs, MLAs and corporators — and 12,000 of government school toppers of Classes 8, 9, 10 and 11 absolutely free. — TNS

Online career platform

With over 30,000 students enrolled in 750 Networking Academies across the Asia Pacific, Career Connection will generate tremendous synergies and accelerate further the development of Internet and networking professionals.

Two hundred and fifty companies are already participating in Career Connection and will soon be able to advertise jobs - from short-term project work to permanent contracts. Networking academy students likewise will be able to post their resumes online.

The aim is to connect the academic community - students and graduates - with government and industry and provide a common platform for them to connect regionally.
