Ludhiana, October 29
For one day in October every year, girls of Christian Medical College are allowed

The Faculty of Christian Medical college, Ludhiana, enjoy a cultural programme on the campus at the farewell function for final-year students.

entry into Ross Men’s Hostel of the college. It is a ritual that every batch has followed since 1961. The hostel was named after Sir Ronald Ross, who discovered the malarial parasite and visited the CMC in the same year.

On this occasion, everything is arranged by students. The portals of the hostel are opened to allow in girl students on the “send-off day” when fourth-year medical students bid adieu to final-year students. At 7 pm, girls go back and return decked up for the evening cultural programme that includes songs and shadow play, in which, students imitate their teachers. However, everything is taken in a good spirit. About 820 persons were present for the dinner this time, as it included the administration, all teachers and medical students of the CMC.

The fourth-year students had given each student of the final year a name. Everyone gracefully accepts the title given to him or her. After this ceremony, a medical student made an emotional speech. The final-year students will stay here another year, but as resident doctors.

The dance that followed was enjoyed by the students. Then, under the watchful eyes of the warden, Dr Sanjay Chand, the girls were escorted back to their hostel by the medicos.
