400 examined at camp

Doctors examined 400 patients and 46 operations were performed at the 13th free eye-operation camp, second in Amloh, organised by the Lions Club (Classics) of Paitala in the local Civil Hospital today. Food, medicines and lenses were given to patients free of cost. “Dr Sachan Walia, Dr Jatinder Kansal of Rajindera Hospital of Patiala and Dr Sanjeev Meheshree of Civil Hospital of Amloh performed the operations,” said Dr Mahesh Jindal, SMO of Amloh.

Cricket match

Ludhiana, October 29
A cricket match was organised between students Class X and Class IX of Shanti Niketan Adarsh Vidyalaya, Benjamin road, on the school campus today in which the former emerged winners by 73 runs.

Batting first, students of Class X made 151 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. The main scorer was their captain Amit Bhatia, who scored 46 runs.

In reply, Class IX players were bowled out for a paltry total of 88 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Neeraj stood as umpires. Amit Bhatia for his fine allround performance ( 46 runs and 4 wickets ) was declared the man of the match. Deepak Kapoor for his five wickets haul was named the best bowler.
