Laloo to give up before Ranchi court

Patna, November 5
RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav today said he would surrender before the Ranchi special court in Jharkhand on November 26 in connection with fodder scam cases as directed by the apex court.

Reacting to Supreme Court’s ruling that Mr Yadav, should surrender before the special court, he said. “I have full faith in the judiciary ...I shall surrender before the court on November 26 as directed by the apex court and file a bail application that very day”.

New Delhi: In a major blow to RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, the Supreme Court today directed him to surrender before a special court at Ranchi in Jharkhand on November 26 in connection with the fodder scam cases and refused to give him blanket bail.

Despite repeated plea by Mr Yadav’s counsel that if the apex court did not grant him bail, the trial court would put him in jail, a three-judge Bench comprising Mr Justice K.T. Thomas, Mr Justice S.S.M. Quadri and Mr Justice U.C. Banerjee said after surrendering before the trial court he could apply for bail.

The court, however, restrained the CBI from arresting Mr Yadav till he appeared before the Ranchi court.

Similar orders were passed by the Bench with regard to cases transferred to Jharkhand in which former Chief Minister Jagannath Misra is an accused. PTIBack
