Henry Kissinger
by Ranga

HENRY Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State and a Nobel Peace Prize-winner had a hectic schedule during his visit to Delhi in June 1999.

His arrival was not much known as it was a private visit.

However, I felt meeting him was a must and after chasing him from one place to another, I was able to meet him at the South Block of the Ministry of External Affairs, where he arrived to meet the External Affairs Minister.

I had to make a quick sketch of his as he entered the Ministry. By the time he came out after meeting the minister, I confronted him at the door step to greet him with the sketch.

He had a hearty laugh and said: "You have made me fat", but willingly signed over the sketch with the remark — "Could you make me look a little thinner.

And I said to him: "No, sir.. you can’t afford to grow thinner".
