Nepal Princess dies in copter crash

Kathmandu, November 12
A member of Nepal’s royal family and three others were killed today when a helicopter with six persons on board crashed into the Rara lake in Mugu district, about 500 km west of Kathmandu, officials here said.

The French-made helicopter belonging to a private airline crashed as it was attempting to land near the lake, killing 49-year-old Princess Prekhsya Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah, wife of Dhirendra, the deposed prince who was killed in the royal palace massacre on June 1, two other passengers and the pilot Ravindra Kadaria on the spot, officials at the rescue co-ordination centre at Tirbhuvan International Airport said.

The others killed were identified as Danbahadur Shahi and Ishwor Basnet, they said. Princess Prekhsya is also the younger sister of Queen Komal Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. PTI
