Cultural boost for literacy

New Delhi, November 12
Public Educational and Social Welfare Society, a prominent social service organisation of East Delhi, today celebrated its seventh annual function at Trilok Puri- based Basti Vikas Kendra. The Leader of the Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Mr Ram Babu Sharma, inaugurated this event.

Girl students enrolled in various vocational courses of the kendra presented many cultural items on this occasion. A street play on the theme of importance of literacy staged by these students was really impressive. The area councillor, Mr Parveen Messy, and film director France John Marks were also present.

Children’s Day show begins at Talkatora

New Delhi, November 12
A two-day mega show, “Children’s Day”, to coincide with former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary was inaugurated by the Delhi Industries Minister, Mr Narender Nath, at Talkatora Stadium in the Capital today.

According to Total Event Management Company, which is organising the show, the basic objective is to provide children a long-awaited interactive platform of meaningful entertainment and create an ambience to bring out their inherent potentials. A number of interesting programmes and competitions such as quiz, painting competition, skit performance and a variety of other events were organised for the children. "Take a stall and educate a child” is the theme, as a part of the proceeds collected from the exhibitors will be used for educating a child by the Child Relief and You (CRY), beneficiary of the event.

The event has participants from various other sectors like toys, garments, children’s publications, food chains, health-care products, kids sports, computer and video games.
