A mela for ‘perfect health’ from Nov 17
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 15
Faced with the growing number of fatal diseases including AIDS and heart ailments among its population, the Delhi Government in association with the Union Ministry of Science and Technology is hosting a nine-day Perfect Health Mela from November 17.

The Health Minister, Mr A. K. Walia, told reporters here today that the Mela would be organised by the Heart Care Foundation of India jointly with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. It would, he said, focus on lifestyle interventions and preventive care as a major theme highlighting the need for regular check-ups and health awareness. Already, Delhi has earned for itself the dubious distinction of having more than 24 thousand HIV positive people. And with the incidence of heart ailments is also on the rise. It is feared that the population of the nation’s Capital is at a higher risk of contracting diseases, fatal or otherwise, than ever before. The situation is worse confounded by the inadequate health infrastructure and general lack of awareness.

Half-done stadium ready to play host
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, November 15
The spruced up Ambedkar Stadium will play host to the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament, starting on November 17. But the stadium still sport a half-done look as the postponement of the Afro-Asian Games brought a sudden halt to the renovation work.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which controls the Ambedkar Stadium, has not bothered to change the seats at the stadium. The Ambedkar Stadium lacks a proper press box, and the deficiency would have been rectified had the Afro-Asian Games been on.
