Declamation contest Ludhiana, November 17 Dr G S Saini, professor, Extension Education and coordinator of the youth the development programme, urged the rural youth to work on the principles of ‘Learning by doing’ and ‘Earn while you learn.’ He reminded them that they are to live in the era of information technology and computer period. Hence they should equip themselves to meet these challenges. Mr Amandeep Singh of Shaheed Baba Khushal Singh Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Lambran, was adjudged the best speaker. Mr Gagandeep Singh of New Janta Model High School, Nakodar, and Ms Navjeet Kaur of Shaheed Baba Khushal Singh Khalsa, Senior Secondary School, Lambran, got 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively. Ms Sharandeep Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School was given consolation prize. |

37 needy students get scholarships Ludhiana, November 17 Nearly 37 students were given a scholarship of Rs 1200 each to help them continue their studies till they complete graduation. These included students from the Arya College for Women, the DD Jain Memorial College for Women, the SDP College for Women, Ramgarhia Girls College, the Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women and SD Girls Senior Secondary School, Purana Bazar.
Besides, eight students from Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School were given school uniforms. Ms Harmeet Kaur, Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College, was the chief guest. Others present included Mr Amarnath Sharma, president of the society, and Mr I.V. Thamn, secretary. |

Students have gala time at fete Ludhiana, November 17 A short cultural programme was organised in which the students presented a qawwali, ‘Nit khair mangan mein’. Girls danced on various songs. Stalls of various games like tombola, hit the target and lucky draws were put up. The stall which drew the maximum girls was the “Play your own song” in which a DJ had been set up and the students could play the song of their choice. Jubilant girls continued to dance till the end of the show. |

Vallabh darbar Ludhiana, November 17 Inter-school qawwali, folk song and folk dance contest was organised in which various school teams, including USPC Jain School, Kundan Vidya Mandir, Satyawati Model School and Jeevan Model School, Atam Public School and the host team participated. On the occasion a Vallabh computer centre was inaugurated and school magazine was released by Lala Lajpat Rai, MP. |
