Badal suffers hip fracture
Our Correspondent

Amritsar, November 18
The on going SAD-BJP campaign today suffered a major setback as Mr Parkash Singh Badal suffered fracture on the upper end of the left femur after a fall at about 5.30 a.m. in Guru Nanak Dev University’s bathroom.

Immediately after the rally, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee and the Chief Ministers of the adjoining states visited Mr Badal who was later airlifted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for operation.

New Delhi (TNS): Mr Badal was flown in here in the evening and admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr S. K. Sama, Chairman of the hospital, told The Tribune that Mr Badal, who had been examined by a panel of doctors, had suffered a fracture in the thigh bone. The medical investigation would be done tomorrow and the fracture “fixed by metal plates” on Tuesday. Dr Sama described the Chief Minister’s condition as “perfectly stable”. He said Mr Badal was cheerful and on normal diet.

The surgery would be done by the noted orthopaedic surgeon, Dr P. S. Maini.
