Don Bosco down Air Force School

Don Bosco School, Panjim (Goa) toyed with Air Force School, Subroto Park (Delhi) 5-0 in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.

Coutinho Wesley was the cynosure of all eyes as he booted home four goals in a row for the Goan team, after Rorigues Angeles had put them in the lead in the 16th minute.

The other three matches of the day were also one-sided affairs. Government Secondary School, Mus, Carnicobar inflicted a 4-0 defeat on G V Raja Sports School,

Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala. Daniel and Gomer scored two goals each to guide the Carnicobar school to a comfortable victory.

In another lop-sided match, MPLL Adarsh School, Faisabad (Uttar Pradesh) defeated St. Xavier's School, Chattisgarh 4-1. Virendra Kushal, Dastageer Ahmed, Jai Prakash Bhagat and Gyan Prakash were the goal-getters for Adarsh School.

Simon netted the consolation goal for Chattisgarh. The UP team have qualified for the quarter-final from Group III.

Army Boys ASC and College, Bangalore defeated Sainik School, Imphal 3-1 to qualify for the quarter-final from Group IV. Ravindra Thapliyal, Manish Maithani and Emshing Koreng scored a goal each for the winners, while Abbu pumped in the only goal for Sainik School. This was Army Boys' third consecutive victory.

Thunder Bolt draw with Stud

Thunder Bolt-Royal Kashmir drew with Sahgal Stud 9-9 and Jindal Steel and Power beat Army 11-10 in the Mount Shivalik Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Polo Cup at the Jaipur Polo ground here on Thursday.

McDowell Signatures got three points, Aravali Polo got two points, Thunder Bolt-Royal Kashmir got two points and Sahgal Stud got one point in Pool A and South Delhi got four, Army 2 and Jindal Steel and Power two points in Pool B. JPC beat Wellingdon Crescent by four and a half goals to four and entered the semi-finals of the Cafe Polo Ratananda Cup at the Army Equestrian Centre Polo Ground.

Friday’s fixtures: Cafe Polo vs PBG, JPC vs ASC, Thunderbolt-Royal Kashmir vs Aravali Polo, Indian Navy vs Jindal Steel and Power.

Bhandari, Mukesh are golfers of the month

Vivek Bhandari of Delhi and Mhow's Mukesh Kumar reaped rich rewards for their consistency when they were declared as the Hero Honda Golfers of the Month for September and October, respectively.

The winner will get a crystal trophy and a golf bag. Under the award scheme, a three-member panel will judge the performance of the Indian golfers across the globe.

They will rate these performances and then nominate one 'Golfer of the Month'. The panel includes Mr Sampath Chari, executive tournament director, Professional Golfers Association of India (PGAI), Mr Prabhdev Singh, associate editor of Golfline, and Mr Brandon de Souza, president of Tiger Sports Marketing.

Bhandari was in excellent form in September when he notched up two runner-up finishes on the Asian PGA Tour and leapfrogged into the top 10 of the Order of Merit. Mukesh Kumar, who won the TNGF Open in September but lost out on the award to Bhandari's superlative performance on the Asia

PGA Tour, made sure there would be no such surprise in October. The No. 1 player on the Mahindra Order of Merit won the Sher-e-Kashmir Open by seven strokes, and then finished second in HT pro golf in the Lucknow Open and Noida Open to clinch the award.

Vijay Dahiya to lead under-15

Vijay Dahiya, trying to regain his berth in the Indian team, will lead the 15-member Delhi Ranji Trophy squad in the match against Jammu and Kashmir to be played at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground here from November 24 to 27. The selected players will have to report at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground on November 23 at 8am.

The team was picked by the senior selection committee of the Delhi and District Cricket Association comprising Chetan Chauhan (chairman), Sunil Dev (convenor), Sunil Khanna, Atul Wassan and Bishan Singh Bedi (chief coach).

The team: Vijay Dahiya (captain), Akash Chopra, Varun Kumar, Radhey Shyam Gupta, Mithun Minhas, Suhail Rauf, T Anand, Amit Bhandari, Amit Suman, Arun Singh, Sonu Vats, Harender Chaudhary, Rahul Sanghvi, Surender Damma and Vishal Sharma. Coach: Surender Khanna. Manager: Rajeev Vinayak.

Chatwinder to meet Parantap in final

Top-seeded Chatwinder Singh will clash against fourth-seeded Parantap Chaturvedi of Delhi in the final of the Tata Futures (Under-18) Tennis Championship Zonals at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association court here tomorrow.

In the semi-finals here today, Chatwinder Singh toyed with Jitin Bishnoi of Chandigarh 6-0, 6-1 in a totally one-sided encounter while Parantap Chaturvedi too had it easy, crushing second seeded Divij Sharan of Delhi in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Bishnoi made up for his defeat in the singles by booking a berth in the doubles title clash. Bishnoi and Roy.

Delhi garner five points, Haryana get three

Haryana made 81 for 3 after being shot out for 212 in their first innings against Delhi's mammoth first innings total of 419 for 6 declared, to draw the three-day North Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 Cricket Tournament match at the Palam Ground here today.

Haryana, who were 101 for three overnight in their first innings, were bundled out for 212 and were forced to follow on. Medium pacer Abhishek Choudhary did the damage, claiming four wickets for 45 runs in 25.3 overs. Rajiv Mahajan and Honey.
