Dreaming of togetherness

ALTHOUGH a subject that is taboo in most cultures of the world, sex is a matter that draws great attention to it. Moral inhibitions about sex result in repression within individual minds. It is this repression which results in the predomination of sex as a symbol in dreams. As a dream symbol, sex does not necessarily deal with the act only, it could be simply seeing a person naked, a particular part of the body or other aspects dealing with the term sex. As the child slowly begins to get aware of his 'self’ separated from its mother's womb it begins to get fascinated with its own body and the ability to be physical. It is here that it learns about the importance of being touched and the physical points. It is now only that it learns to either like being touched or handled or dislike it, if handled roughly. It is this, which moulds his later-in-life response to sex.

Society, till a particular stage in our lives, prohibits us from dealing with this particular aspect of our life. In dreams, we can safely let our mind wander and explore this physicality in a safe way.

Although belonging to a highly orthodox society, yet ironically, we find a lot of reference to sex in dreams within the ancient Indian texts. As per the 'Swapna Kamlakar,' hugging a lady with open hair or one with a red body or to be physically close with a lady with a very thin, emancipated body spells great ill for the dreamer. The person could fall seriously ill in the near future. Should the lady, on the other hand, be beautiful with a well-developed body then it is an indication that the person in the near future could fall ill with complains related to phlegm. Should the man see that a woman is caressing him, then the person would face a lot of disappointments in the near future.

On the contrary, another text 'Swapna aur Shakun' says that having sex with a lady is very lucky. The person could gain financially as well as in property matters too. To see yourself have sex with an animal also brings lots of improvement in your health if you have been ill.

Should a man dream that he is trapped in love making with another lady than his wife, then he is likely to face lots of animosity and fights in his waking life. But should he dream that has manages to thwart the advances of another lady, then he shall win over his enemies and shall be able to safely tide over great difficulties. To make love with your lover in your dreams is thought to be very lucky. Should a pregnant woman dream that she loves somebody, then it spells ill for her child. Should a man dream that he is making love to a woman of a low caste, then he shall face damage to his name and respect in real life because of some action on his part.
