Delhi to host Asian Junior Tennis

New Delhi, November 29
Top players from Asia will participate in the Asian Junior Tennis Championship (Under-18) for boys and girls to be held at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) courts from December 3 to 8.

DLTA president Anil Khanna said here on Thursday that top players from Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and India will play in this prestigious championship, which, hitherto, was being organised by Japan.

Boys: Amanjot Singh and Rohan Gajjar (India), Anuwat Dalodom (Thailand), Jacob Mathews and Saurabh Singh (India), Wang-Cheng Hsieh and Tai Wei Liu (Chinese Taipei), Dannio Yahya (Malaysia), Ivan Kokurin (Uzbekistan), Rishi Behl (India), Sratha Saengsuwann (Thailand), Yu-Da Shieh (Chinese Taipei), A Arun Prakash (India), Woo-Ram Kim (Korea), Ivan Kovalev (Kazakshtan), Chueh-Cheng Shih (Chinese Taipei), Tejeshwar Chigateri (India), Adam Jaya (Malaysia), Somdev K Devvarman and Nipun Gupta (India), Natapong Pongkunsub (Thailand), Seung-Jae Lee (Korea), Nihal Advani (India) and Mahir Nisar (Pakistan).

Sanjay School win in Subroto

New Delhi, November 29
Sanjay Public School, Chandigarh defeated MPLL Adarsh Inter School, Faisabad (Uttar Pradesh) 2-1 and Army Boys Company, ASC and College, Bangalore defeated NCC, Imphal 1-0 in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday. Rambilas and Sandeep Singh scored the goals for the Chandigarh school while N Aziz got the only goal for the UP team.

Eight teams for Shastri Hockey

New Delhi, November 29
Eight teams, including one from Dhaka (Bangladesh), will participate in the 12th edition of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hockey Tournament to be held at the Shivaji Stadium from December 3 to 9. Defending champions BP and runners-up Punjab and Sind Bank are among the teams who have confirmed their participation. Chairman of the Tournament Kamal Chaudhry said a silver medal will be awarded to the players.
