Jasmine excels at national exhibition

Jasmine Anand, a Class X student from Scared Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sarabha Nagar, has won the first prize in Sanskriti-2001, a National Exhibition of Art for Children and Youth, organised at Hyderabad recently.

Jasmine who has depicted the plight of Indian women in her painting, has received a certificate of diploma of distinction along with a silver crown. She is the only girl from Punjab in the list of top 10 prizes. Besides, the Sanskriti has given Sadguru Puruskar to the principal and teacher of Jasmine.

Over 75,000 students had posted their entries to the Sanskriti and 3,524 paintings were screened in the first round. Besides Jasmine, other students of the school who have won Sanskriti Puruskars include Saniya Gupta, Bhavana Gupta, Sahil Duggal, Nikhita Jain and Anjali Sharma.

Sister Helima, Principal, and Ms Guneeta Ghai, art teacher, have congratulated the students.
