Rupert Murdoch
by Ranga

A MEDIA magnate of international fame, Rupert Murdoch, the American, born in Melbourne (Australia), inherited Adelaide News in 1952 at the age of 21.

He acquired newspapers, magazines and other interests in the U.K., USA, and Hong Kong as well as several TV channels.

He was in Delhi 1994. He was the guest of the Press Club of India where he addressed media persons and talked of his exploits in the world of news and television.

It was at this jam packed session that I ventured to sketch him.

As I completed the picture, I made a move towards him but could not reach him as he was surrounded by an eager audience.

I waited for a while and pushed myself into the crowd in order to sketch Murdoch.

He went to a nearby table and placed his signature over it and returned it with a smile.

However, it is needless to say that he carried a similar one back home.
