Seven of marriage party shot

Jammu, December 2
Seven members of a marriage party were gunned down this afternoon by unidentified militants at Trimbli, in Udhampur district.

Police sources said the militants who were hiding in the rugged terrain 4 km from Panchari, fired at the marriage party. Seven persons have been reported dead so far.

Panchari was the site of yesterday’s massacre in which militants gunned down four Village Defence Committee (VDC) members and three other persons.

SRINAGAR: Four persons, including two women and a militant, were killed in the valley where militants triggered a landmine blast, targeting a vehicle carrying security personnel, a police spokesman said.

Jawans travelling in a security vehicle had a narrow escape when the militants set off a land mine planted on the Chogal-Handwara road in Kupwara, he said. The mine exploded soon after the vehicle crossed over. No one was hurt.

Two women were killed by the militants who raided Kandi village in Kupwara in the wee hours, the spokesman said.

The police found the beheaded body of a former Hizb-ul Mujahideen militant, Mohammad Sidiq Bhat, from Kandi forest today. An ultra was killed in an encounter with the BSF at Wahibug in Pulwama district.

Meanwhile, the Army today busted four militant hideouts and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in north Kashmir, defence sources said.
