Seminar on role of police, lawyers

Ludhiana, December 8
A seminar on “Role of Police and Lawyer in the Judicial System” held here yesterday at the Old Court Complex by the Young Lawyers Association, Ludhiana. The seminar was attended by many advocates and senior police officials.

A large number senior advocates and police officials exchanged ideas and gave suggestions to improve the working of the judicial system by working on their job honestly. The seminar was presided over by the president of District Bar Association, Mr Harish Rai Dhanda while the chief guest was, Inspector-General of Police (Commando Wing), Mr A.P. Pandey. Others present on the occasion were the District and Session Judge, Mr A.K. Sharma, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range, Mr Suresh Arora.

While speaking during this seminar, Mr A.P. Pandey said, “Because of some indisciplined police officials and advocates, some people get a chance to criticise us.”

Gill memorial sports results

Sansarpur will take on the Star Club, Jalandhar, in the final of the 21st Captain Manjeet Singh Gill Memorial Tournament being organised by the Gill Sports Club, in association with the Gram Panchayat, at Dhamot today.

In the semifinals, Sansarpur beat Dhoorkot 3-1, while the club prevailed over Kilaraipur Academy.

Mukhtiar Singh of Chomri village won the bullock cart race, followed by Randhir Singh of Lalton Kalan and Soni of Bullar.

In dog race, ‘Jabbri’ owned by Rajbir Singh of Sekhon village came first, while ‘Rack’ of Daljit Singh from Lakhowal finished runner-up.

In football, Daheru beat Issru 2-1; Gudani Kalan beat Ghurala 5-4 (tie- breaker); Nawan Pind defeated Aluna Miana 3-2; and Khera got the better of Gajjan Majri 1-0 to secure their berths in the semifinals.

In the kabaddi finals (57 kg) Mahila Chowk beat Ramgarh Sardara to emerge as the champions. In 62 kg matches, Jaladiwal beat Kotari 17-6; Mandi Kalan beat Raboo 24-14; Dhoorkot beat Changli 17-15; Jandali beat Ghudani 27-14; and Babupur beat Andecha 21-19 to enter the last eight stage.
