Amar Jyot’s studio offers a wide variety in traditional as well as formal wear.

Most designers prefer to drape the ladies, but Amar Jyot Singh has carved a niche for himself in the fashion industry by designing clothes for men.

A student of the J.D. Institute of Fashion, Amar Jyot specialised in apparel production from the Pearl Academy of Fashion. He designs both Western and Indian wear for men. His studio in Lajpat Nagar offers a wide variety in traditional as well as formal wear. Having gained experience from working with various designers and in various export houses, Amar Jyot went on to open his own boutique. He believes his collection of shirts, suits, jackets, ties, cuff-links and even ethnic wear like sherwanis and jodhpuris is affordable unlike the usual designer products, which come with a heavy price tag.

Women need not feel left out as AJ, as he is popularly known, stores rare fabrics to design outfits for them as well. Interestingly, he introduced the concept of sherwanis for women, which are considered to be really ‘hot’. “I want to do a bit for the women as well. I want to open a boutique for women where they can pick bridal stuff as well as casuals,” says the designer. Inspired by the grace and substance of the modern Indian Man, AJ blends styles and colours to create that special something.

Ash wows Delhi

Guess who came to set the Capital on fire? The arguably most good-looking girl in the world, Aishwarya Rai, who was in the capital to launch the Dolce Vita Diamond Collection.

Ash’s ‘favourite family’, the Longines have launched a new collection of diamond watches. So like an obedient and caring family member Ms Rai came to promote the collection. She visited two showrooms in South Extension, which was a treat for the Dilliwallas. Right from those still in diapers to those whose hair has been silvered by the hands of time, thronged the shops to catch a glimpse of the beauty.

Needless to say, the photographers had a field day. Pushing, pulling, heaving and striving, they shot the most photogenic woman.

An Adonis show

Bejnan Gars of Cuba walked away with the Best National Costume award while A. Shrifi of Morocco clinched Grasim Best Talent. The final is scheduled to take place in Udaipur on December 15.
