CBI case against IT officer

The CBI has registered a case against a Commissioner (Appeals), Income Tax, for allegedly possessing assets to the tune of Rs 228.91 lakh, disproportionate to his known sources of income. The accused, A. K. Purwar, a 1971-batch Indian Revenue Service Officer, “has abused his official position as public servant and accumulated huge assets either in his name or in the name of his wife relatives”, a CBI press note said.
