CME on medical imaging

Chandigarh, December 16
The Adviser to the UT Administrator, Ms Neeru Nanda, here today inaugurated a one-day continuing medical education (CME) 2001, on recent technological advances in medical imaging and radiation therapy at the General Hospital Sector 16.

Delivering the inaugural address, Ms Nanda called upon the participants to discuss the ground realities and explore the problems being faced by the medical institutions so that their solutions could be found. The Adviser also pointed out the urgent need of a CT scan in the hospital and said that radiologists and technologists should think about the ways to maintain the medical equipment.

The CME dwelled upon various topics relating to the latest techniques. Mr R.K. Munjal of the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer and Research Centre, New Delhi, and Mr Pawan Kumar Popli of AIIMS spoke on the safety aspects of diagonistic radiology and mammography, respectively. Mr Sampat Kumar Dhawan, Mr S.C. Bansal and Mr Mahipal of the Department of Radiology, PGI, also spoke on the occasion.

Tiny tots impress audience

Chandigarh, December 16
The Evergreen Academy, Sector 34, organised its sports meet today at Sector 46 Sports Complex. The spirited tiny tots first played the Evergreen percussion band welcoming the chief guest Ms Harjinder Kaur, acting Mayor of the, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. This was followed by pre-nursery children performing tambourine drill taking the parents into the world of gypsies. The colourful ribbon drill was performed by nursery ‘B’, followed by the fisherman drill of nursery ‘A’. The Lower KG displayed ring drill followed by UKG who performed karate as a measure of self defence.

Then came the students of nursery ‘C’, LKG and UKG performing flag drill to the beat of A.R. Rehmans’ ‘Vande Matram’ sharing the message of unity and peace. Each drill display had the parents cheering their little ones. Ms Harjinder Kaur gave away the medals to the winners. The school report was read by Principal Kuljit Suri. Santa Claus loaded with gifts and sweets, was also present, dancing to the beats of Christmas carols and wishing all a Merry Christmas and also a happy New Year.

Kho-kho meet

The MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, GGS College for Women, Sector 26, and Government College for Girls, Sector 11, won their respective league matches in the Panjab University Inter-College kho-kho (women) tournament played on league basis here today on the PU campus grounds.
