| Slum
children see the light at the end of the tunnel,
thanks to NGO |
| “I dreamt of becoming a
police inspector and can now visualise my dreams coming true through
Deepalaya. I am really happy in the school. I want to do something for
my India,” said Amresh Kumar, a student of class V in a school run by
Deepalaya, an NGO based in Janak Puri. Not only Amresh, but many
students like him have similar dreams. The concern for thousands of
children who live amidst squalor, ignorance and poverty and to
give them a new hope in life has been a constant incentive to
Deepalaya since its inception in 1979.
