BNP lawmaker arrested
Dhaka, December 26
A lawmaker of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was arrested from his residence here in the early hours of the day, police sources said. Mr Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, who is the president of powerful Jatiyatabad Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP, was arrested in a case lodged with the Motijheel police station. PTI

9 RJD men shot
Patna, December 26
Unidentified gunmen today shot dead nine RJD workers, including a party’s district unit chief, after ambushing their vehicle near Tatipul in Sheikhpura district of Bihar. Sheikhpura RJD chief Kashi Yadav was among the RJD activists killed in the attack. PTI

Naxals surrender
Hyderabad, December 26
In a major setback to PWG, 29 of its activists, including five women, surrendered before the police even as a TDP member was gunned down by Naxalites in Andhra Pradesh since yesterday. PTI
